Abstract
Stenosis of the piriform aperture (ECAP in literature) is an unusual congenital anomaly caused by an abnormal development of the maxilla bone. This determines an obstruction in the upper airway, and thus respiratory difficulty, which is particularly worrisome in the context of newborns, who are mainly nasal breathers. The cases of two newborns with ECAP is reported.
