Abstract

Venolymphatic malformations are a group of congenital lesions resulting from errors in vascular morphogenesis with heterogeneous clinical manifestations depending on their location. They may not be detected at birth but become evident as they progressively increase in size, showing specific symptoms according to their location. The cervicofacial region is critical due to the risk of airway compromise. Herein, we present the case of a male adolescent managed at a highly complex pediatric hospital who presented with progressive swelling in the floor of the mouth and submandibular region initially considered as Ludwig's angina, resulting in airway collapse requiring tracheostomy and drainage, revealing hematic content. Diagnostic imaging showed a macrocystic venolymphatic malformation, treated with bleomycin sclerotherapy resulting in lesion regression without recurrence.
