Abstract
The lingual tonsils (LA) are located at the base of the tongue and are present in most individuals to varying degrees. They have an important clinical role when they present an increase in size, known as hyperplasia, which can contribute to upper airway obstruction. The clinical case of an adult male patient with a family history of tongue base cancer and smoking is presented, who consulted for left neck pain of 6 weeks’ duration associated with bilateral diffuse volume increase of the tongue base, undergoing lingual tonsillectomy through a transoral approach. endoscopic with laparoscopic LigaSure®.
