Abstract

The lingual tonsils (LA) are located at the base of the tongue and are present in most indivi­duals to varying degrees. They have an important clinical role when they present an increase in size, known as hyperplasia, which can contribute to upper airway obstruction. The clini­cal case of an adult male patient with a family history of tongue base cancer and smoking is presented, who consulted for left neck pain of 6 weeks’ duration associated with bilate­ral diffuse volume increase of the tongue base, undergoing lingual tonsillectomy through a transoral approach. endoscopic with laparoscopic LigaSure®.
